EDC Healthstrat Adolescent Health Project Technical Manager Job in Kenya

Established in 1958, Education Development Center (EDC) addresses urgent challenges in education, health and economic development for young people. 

This program features a partnership between EDC and Healthstrat. Healthstrat is an HIV clinical services organization and training partner of the government of Kenya. 

EDC invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the position of Technical Manager, EDC Healthstrat Adolescent Health Project.
 
EDC seeks applicants to lead and manage an integrated services delivery program for Kenyan youth in Nairobi.
 

Responsibilities include:
 
Providing sexual and reproductive health, HIV care and support, drug and alcohol preventive messaging, and other services to young people traditionally outside the health system. 

The technical manager will support services with CCC staff on youth clinic days at two sites, be the lynchpin to manage the program impact at community and clinic levels, produce required deliverables, and implement creative approaches per the work plan.

Required Skills
 
EDC seeks candidates with a clinical officer or nursing background and MPH, project management and reporting experience, and self-directed work style.

CDC or USAID project-level experience and FP/SRH behavior change experience preferred. 

Should have completed in-service courses in psychosocial care and comprehensive care for PLWHA per NASCOP. 

Must have a demonstrated commitment to young people, their rights, and overall wellbeing--especially youth living-with or affected-by HIV and AIDS.

  • Preparation of budgets, budget notes and budget realignments in coordination with program staff
  • Reconciliation of bank and cash accounts
  • Review of expenses to be charged to correct budgets
  • Prepare key of allocation in line with current funding
  • Submission of reports to HQ and follow up for approvals
  • Manage external audits
  • Grant management
  • Follow up with HQ on approval of agreements, MOUs and agreement signing and donor payment
  • Prepare and review the financial reports
  • Assessment of potential sub grantees and training of sub awardees
Education& Qualifications:

  • Compilation of personnel file documents – NSSF, NHIF, PIN number, Bio data etc.
  • Follow up with insurance companies on staff schemes; staff health, GPA etc
Education & Experience
  • Diploma in the relevant field
  • Experience atleast 2 years
  • Experience in an INGO

Service Engineer – Web Developer

We are pleased to announce the following vacancy in the Product & Services Development Department within the Technology Division. 

In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below:
 
Reporting to the Principal Service Development Engineer the purpose of the position will include activities relating to web development and evolution of the Safaricom Live web-portal and other web assets including integration to related service platforms. 

Web development duties include but not limited to specification, design, development, validation, documentation and evolution of the web portals and other web based assets; performance management; ensuring integrity of the web based services; maintenance and fault management; and research on web technologies and standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Requirement specification – eliciting & analyzing user requirements;
  • Design –user interface design;
  • Develop – development as per user requirement specification and integration to other service platforms;
  • Validation – oversee the quality assurance of application logic, data processing and error management;
  • Liaise with software and hardware suppliers for prompt rectification of any problems;
  • Liaise with network administrators, information security to maintain network availability and integrity of the web applications;
  • Track software advisories and releases to ensure application integrity;
  • On a weekly basis report on the KPI of the applications & web services;
  • Track web services KPI to ensure optimal service performance and plan for growth in capacity or licenses.
Role Requirements;
  • BSc. Computer Science/Software Engineering/IT;
  • Candidate should have at least 2-3 years of experience in commercial web development;
  • Extensive experience of web technologies - HTML/XHTML/HTML5, WSDL, XML, SOAP, JQuery, CSS, CMS, JavaScript;
  • Extensive experience with graphics design tools – Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Flash;
  • Experience with web security techniques to prevent known web vulnerabilities;
  • Experience in software life-cycle development (SDLC);
  • Preferred experience with Apache Tomcat application server and SOA;
  • Preferred experience with Java/C++ programming language and SQL;
  • Preferred experience with Solaris, UNIX OS’s;
  • Preferred knowledge of internetworking technologies – DNS, ESMTP, SSO, SEO, RSS, and Web Proxies.
